ROMANCES/BALLADS

Hola chicos/as:

Hi guys:

We would like to share some of the projects carried out by our students of the 3rd year of Compulsory Secondary Education. They are some beautiful ballads written by themselves. Here you have an example of ballad in Spanish written by Alexia Molina (3 A), and in English by Allysia Welch (3 B).

Apareciste en mi vida,
De tu tren hice la vía
Ya ha pasado mucho tiempo
Y te quiero todavía.
Aunque no me reconozcas
volvería a por ti un día
y al oído te dijera
que fueses por siempre mía,
te necesitaré siempre.
Mi amor, por ti moriría.
                                                           Alexia Molina Taylor, 3º A

If of your eyes I am the king,
from your feelings prey,
to your kisses I am addicted,
for those strawberry lips of May.
In your hand you have my soul,
if you look at me I die,
in your hand my captive heart,
if you kiss me I come alive.
You’ve got me like a fairy,
when you think of me,
but when you call me,
I notice how you love me.

Día de la Lectura de Andalucía (16 de diciembre) / Andalucía Reading Day (December 16th)

Hola a todos/as:

Hi everyone,

On the occasion of the Reading Day in Andalucía, celebrated in all the schools in Andalucía on the 16th December, we had a fantastic activity in our school called “Reading Halls”. During this day, our students got tickets for one of the “halls”, in which teachers carried out different activities related to a book for them. In some of the halls, some passages of world literature’s classics were read, such as Edgar Allan Poe or Wilde.
The activity was very successful and a different way of approaching the great classics.

For instance, in the “Picture of Dorian Gray”, besides Reading a passage of the novel in Spanish and English, some quotes from Oscar Wilde were also read, and we had a final quiz based on the TV show “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” about the autor and his time.
